Greetings!
Thank you so much for checking me out. I appreciate the love and support and the possibility for new opportunities. I love all things studio; the creativity, the spontaneity, the discipline it takes to see a project through it's entirety, and the satisfaction of knowing there is a body work, literary, musical... sound, frequencies, vibrations released into the universe, something timeless, something that will never die. Books and music are both alike in that wise. They live on forever. So it is my honor to be one that contributes to the creativity of such a magnificent outcome. I love to read, write, and create with my voice, stories and music. It's my calling. So I took to narration, audiobooks, and songwriting and singing.
And I look forward to being a part of your next creative work. Whether that be reading/narrating your audiobook, writing or producing songs for you, or you being a fan of my music. Let me introduce myself...
My name is Artema
I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. Yes, the city of Motown! Raised by musical parents, it's almost as if I was destined to be a creative. My mother is a church pianist and my father was a rock star in his "former life". Before he became a preacher, he was an original member of the Motown family as a part of the pop rock group "The Undisputed Truth" back in the 70's. I was brought up listening to all kinds of music, all genres, all styles. I was always drawn to lyrics. In the 80's and 90's when I was growing up, the lyrics used to be in the inside covers of the cassettes and cd's we listened to. So I would sit in front of the radio with the lyrics sheet and read the lyrics as I sang along with the record. I used to read out loud as a kid. And even back then I wished I could read and listen to the books at the same time. My mother bought me a Teddy Ruxpin bear. He had a tape player in the back of him and he would read the story aloud while I would read the book along with him. That was one one of the first audiobooks back then, a more creepy version, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I grew up singing in church and reading the bible and other books, and when I wasn't singing or reading, I was listening to music. I wrote my first song when I was 8 years old! And that combination of stimulation cultivated a passion for all the above to become a big part of who I am as an artist.

Voice Over Artist
Sitting at the desk at work one day, as a spa manager, I answered the phone. The customer on the other end, stopped mid-sentence to express to me how beautiful my voice sounded. He told me, "You should record yourself reading books. I would listen to books all day if I could hear your voice reading it." He was so enamored with my voice and complimentary that it was flattering and yet he planted a seed that sparked. Another time, during a break from one of the band sets I just finished singing at a restaurant gig, a friend of mine and I were conversing. He introduced me to his cousin, who after the introduction said, " Oh my God, your talking voice is amazing! You should do voice overs!" So again, I was complimented in a way that started my sprockets turning in the direction of making talking a part of my career. Although it took me a few years to get around to it, I finally decided to become a voice over artist for narration and books in particular. I am also interested in recording commercials and one the voice of God an awards show, hopefully the Grammy's when I am nominated for one!
I posted links to some voice over narration snippets on the home page.

Singer/Songwriter
As a young lady I sang in a group that landed a record deal with SoSo Def records, but our parents didn't like the idea of us relocating to Atlanta without them, so they did not sign the contract. So the deal died and we had to pursue our dreams of becoming recording artists when we became adults. So I took my gifts to church and became a praise and worship leader where we recorded two albums. All the songs on the albums were written by yours truly. As a professional songwriter, opportunities were presented and requests were made for me to write original songs for hit stage plays, movie soundtracks, and other artists albums. I recently recorded my first solo project in December 2020.
I posted the Spotify link to the single on my home page. Check it out!
